Two victims were injured during a shooting at Heritage Drive on Sept. 8 at 2:20 p.m.
The Champaign Police Department responded to the call. According to CPD, One victim was a 76-year-old man with non life-threatening gunshot wounds and another victim was a 75-year-old Champaign woman with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police provided medical aid and transferred victims to a local hospital. Victims were conscious and speaking at the time.
Officers also found evidence of gunfire on nearby houses and at least one vehicle. Upon preliminary investigation, officers concluded that the victims were pulling into a driveway when an unknown male subject approached the vehicle. He then fired before running from the area.
Officers are completing a thorough canvass of the surrounding area, but any resident or business in the nearby area with an exterior surveillance camera system is encouraged to notify the police department as video footage could help with the investigation.
There are currently no suspects for the shooting and no arrests have been made. The investigation is still ongoing.
