Illini Hall Demolition

Illini Hall has fallen. The building had been standing on the corner of Wright and John street for one-hundred and fourteen years before the beginning of last week's demolition. This work is a part of phase one of the multi-million dollar renovation project. Removing all traces of the existing building and surrounding site alone is estimated to cost a little over twenty-million dollars. Construction is set to begin right after demolition finishes. With an expected completion date in twenty twenty-six. It will be replaced by a new one-hundred forty-thousand square foot facility with a new data science center, collaboration areas, and lecture spaces.
