I am a big believer in taking chances, learning from failure, and pushing the norm to achieve greater success. Because of this, I have help grow UI7 to a live working studio. With my goal being let's see what my students will do. Because of this we have grown our newscast into multiple productions. What was once UI7 News for one senior level course, is now 3 live programs, 1 digital program that lives on our website that is updated everyday. There you can find UI7 news is now UI7 Live. That show expands across two television broadcast classes. Giving beginners a chance to learn and grow.
After UI7 was a success, students requested to do more. 13 volunteers came to me and said what can we do. That small conversation and a field trip later resulted in not only Good Morning Illini, but multiple classes that teach them how to shoot, how to edit and then present on camera or even produce the show. Giving seniors who are about to graduate real life experiences. Illini Sports Night. covers the athletes and teams of BIG Ten Illinois. The focus is the stories behind the games and scores. Think HBO Real Sports with an Illini Flare.
